What is my car worth?

What is my car worth? The honest starting point is what cars like yours are listed for. Pick your make, model and year to see the typical asking price in Canada, and the price for each model year. It is what sellers are asking, not what a dealer will pay you.

How it works

Each month we count how many cars of every model and model year are listed for sale in Canada at each price. The tool finds the typical asking price for the model and year you pick, and the range where the middle half of listings fall.

Enter your kilometres to see how they compare with the typical for the model. Fewer kilometres than typical usually supports a higher price, and more supports a lower one.

Your privacy comes first. What you enter stays on your device unless you choose to text it to Uobo.

What this does not cover

  • This is what sellers are asking, not what your car would sell for and not an appraisal. Dealers usually offer less than asking prices because they must resell the car at a profit.
  • Trim, options, condition, accident history and local demand change a car's price. A car in poor shape is worth less than the typical, and one in excellent shape can be worth more.
  • For a real number, get offers from several dealers and compare them with what you could get selling privately.

Common questions

How much is my car worth?

A car is worth what someone will pay for it. Asking prices of similar cars show the top of that range. A dealer will usually offer less, and a private sale can come closer to the asking price.

Why is a trade-in offer lower than the listed prices?

The dealer has to inspect, repair, advertise and resell the car, and wants a profit. Trade-in offers are also quicker and carry no hassle for you. In most provinces a trade-in also lowers the sales tax on your next car.

How do kilometres affect what a car is worth?

More kilometres than typical usually lowers the price, and fewer raises it. The tool shows the typical for your model so you can see where yours sits.

Should I trade in my car or sell it privately?

A private sale usually brings more money but takes time and carries risk. The trade-in or sell privately calculator compares the two once you include the sales tax you save by trading in.

Where do the prices come from?

From cars listed for sale in Canada, counted by price and refreshed every month. The page shows how many listings it compared and which month they are from.
